There really should be a place in every garden for these long- and free-flowering plants. Neat and mounding, then getting bigger as the season trundles on, they are perfect for mixing with other perennials. The tiny flowers are carried in slender spikes up stems that are sparingly covered with leaves. These look distinctly sage-like, but their fragrance is not as pleasant when they are crushed between the fingers.
