Looking more like the wild form of sweet pea this delightful small flowered variety has been grown for centuries. It produces lots of small, vivid purple and dark red flowers on short side stems. Although not really fragrant it is perfect for pots as well as obelisks that are placed in the middle of a perennials border to give extra height. Seed packets contain approximately 20 seeds.

Care advice

Sow in September in the flowering site 2cm deep. Later sowings should be in deep pots in a cold frame or green house. Beware mice like the seeds. Can be sown in pots between November and March. Plant out the seedlings in April as soon or later when the roots show through the bottom of the pot. In April the seeds can be sown directly into the soil. The blooms should be cut regularly to encourage lots of flowers. Remove seed pods as they form.
