Peony 'Rou fu rong'

An easy variety in our garden, this is classed by Chinese peony breeders as 'chysanthemum shaped'. Short, soft-pink petals are arranged in tightly packed layers. At first ruffled, the petals become smoother as they unfurl around a ring of yellow stamens and a cluster of many, soft-green carpels that are tipped pink. The fragrant blooms are carried above a short shrub densely covered with long, deeply cut mid-green leaves. The English translation for the name is 'Pink Water Lily'
