Peony 'Rosalind Elsie Franklin'

The large, many petalled flowers are soft pink. Deep at the bottom of the petals are large, flares of maroon. These sit around a dense centre of yellow stamens. Despite the size of the blooms, the flowers do not droop, but are held outwards on sturdy stems just proud of a thick, compact mound of deeply divided, mid-green leaves. This stunning plant is a cross of many lovely Lutea hybrids and named in after the English researcher (1920-1958, London) whose work in molecular biology helped in the discovery of the double helical structure of the DNA molecule in 1953 for which three male peers received the Nobel Prize in 1962. This was registered by Siedl in 1996.
