Peony 'Iphigenia'
A very handsome plant with large, rich red, semi-double, fragrant flowers. The petals are velvet and have a small black blotch at the base. They are so ruffled they look fluted and nestle around a centre of stamens that have no pollen. Each bloom opens just above the lovely almost delicate, soft green, divided leaves. Interestingly this is 3/4 Moutan (Hybrid Chinese woody peony) and 1/4 Lutea hybrid. Raised by Daphnis in 1977.
