The large, single flowers are almost white, but with undertones of cream and pink that fade as the bloom opens. A ring of lax, gold stamens are perched on red filaments that almost cover short flares of red that eminate from the centre of the flower. The foliage is elegant and finely cut, and tends to turn autumn colours and fall off earlier than many other woody peonies. This French Lutea hybrid was registed in 1986, making it a reasonably new introduction. This is a cross between the interesting woody species peony P. potanini trolloides, which creeps slowly and has delicate foliage and an upright, big, white flowers Japanese woody peony called 'Gessekai'. It is said to be a robust grower.
