The glossy rich cerise red, semi-double flowers of this excellent, vigorous plant are rather mobile in nature. By that I mean that they are not always evenly shaped, but form lovely relaxed rosettes on a handsome upright shrub. The leaves are mid-green and deeply divided. Hardy to -15 degrees and more, these loose the leaves in autumn leaving a handsome framework of woody stems visible all winter. Tree peonies need to planted with the grafting union placed at least 10 cm below the soil surface. Prune back any dead growth in spring as soon as the buds turn red.
