Peony 'Black Pirate'

Silky, very dark red, outward facing flowers with gold stamens. A short and broad plant. Free-flowering and easy to grow, this forms a reasonably wide but upright shrub that is covered with slender leaves. The handsome, very dark red blooms with silky, ruffled petals tip gently forwards, but not so far that the thick cone of yellow stamens is hidden. Paeonia ‘Black Panther’ is very similar in colour but its flowers, having more petals, tend to droop further forwards and hide the stamens.
