Sow indoors in February to March onto the surface of pots or trays of moist seed compost and cover with a fine sprinkling of vermiculite or fine compost. Place in a propagator or warm place and keep at a temperature of between 18-23°C (65-75°F). After sowing do not exclude light as this helps germination. When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into 7.5cm pots or trays. Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost, at 45-60cm apart in a sunny border.
