Iris 'Underlined'
I love plicata irises, and over the years the best have been raised by Keith Keppel who started to introduce them way back in the 1960s. This is one of his latest. The standards are primrose yellow, the falls white, but edged by yellow then brown. This colour is specked onto the yellow ground. The flowers are scented.

Bearded irises need to be planted with the rhizome, or root, just above the soil. This is because the rhizome needs to be baked by the sun in order to form flowers. Make sure that there is not too much competition from surrounding plants and remove any weeds.
