Iris 'Pink Parfait'

(Siberian iris)

Registered as 'Longfields Pink Parfait' in 2013 this is one of the few double flowered Siberian irises. The flowers, which are borne flat on the stiff stems have two rows of small, lavender pink petals; an outside set and then a shorter inner set. Each bloom lasts for a long time and is held well above a short clump of slender, upright, mid-green leaves. One for the front of a border.

Siberian irises are tolerant of a wider range of soils than Bearded irises, but they do prefer a moist soil. However, if the soil drains well during the summer, the trick is to make sure they do not dry out when they are first planted. Very hardy to -10 degrees or more, the leaves die back in autumn and emerge again in spring. Remove old foliage before new leaves start to grow. Does not need frequent division like bearded irises.
