Iris 'Kaboom'

Strong stems bear true purple flowers with flaring falls, flat standards and a further cluster of petals in the middle of the flower. The standards are veined a deeper colour, and round yellow signals are just visiable on the falls and inner petals. This was created with the use of colchine (as in Colchicum autumnale the autumn crocus), which is also used as a drug to treat gout. For many years has been used for many years by plant breeders  to produce stronger plants.
