One of the most extraordinary flowers I have seen to date: the falls start purple-black and fade to purple towards the back with lines of white. White standardsd are edged with lemon and faintly flushed with purple. The frilly, widely ruffled petals flare outwards into a handsome shape. Slightly scented.

Bearded irises need to be planted with the rhizome, or root, just above the soil. This is because the rhizome needs to be baked by the sun in order to form flowers. Make sure that there is not too much competition from surrounding plants and remove any weeds.
