Iris 'Brown Chocolate'
The fabulous, not over large brown flowers have velvety very dark brown falls, rich chocolate standards and deep yellow neards. I have never been able to put a name to this glorious plant that was obtained from Kew in the very 1980s when the iris garden was disbanded. I assume it to be a plant introduced pre-1950.

Bearded irises need to be planted with the rhizome, or root, just above the soil. This is because the rhizome needs to be baked by the sun in order to form flowers. Make sure that there is not too much competition from surrounding plants and remove any weeds.
