Iris 'Autumn Treat'

The flowers of this early blooming irises open soft blue with highlights of richer blue at the edges and stripes of ochre either side of the mid-blue beard. Intermediate irises are very useful for early spring colour and are ideal for placing at the front of the border where the leaves will enhance other plants further back in the border. This is said to be a remontant, which I expect it to be.

Bearded irises need to be planted with the rhizome, or root, just above the soil. This is because the rhizome needs to be baked by the sun in order to form flowers. Make sure that there is not too much competition from surrounding plants and remove any weeds.
