Highly fragrant clusters of single, flat, lilac flowers are carried on straight, self-supporting, leafy stems for many weeks. These form a bushy plant that is ideal for cottage-style borders. Although it is rather short-lived this is perfect for poor soils as it resents being pampered. When happy it will freely seed around.
