A hardy perennial this survives temperatures of -15 or more. The foliage is semi-evergreen, which means a lot of the leaves will die back in autumn. More will emerge again in spring. One of the most indestructible garden plants, these easily grown plants will grow in dry soil, wet soil (as long as it is not permanently wet) in a very sunny spot right through areas under the dappled shade of trees. They don't like deep shade.
