Two layers of pointed, pinkish red petals, open into a frilled cup. Each flower, which tends to hang downwards, is balanced on a sturdy stem with one or two side stems bearing more buds that open over a long period. Big, dark green leaves appear from the base of the plant. Borne on short stems these from a neat mound.
