This big leafy rambling plant is clothed in smallish, mid-green leaves and fabulous bell-shaped yellow blooms. The petals curl inwards resembling a lantern, and once these have gone the seed pods are fluffy and silky. Great for covering unslightly sheds or fencing.

A very hardy plant this copes with -15 degrees and much more. The leaves drop off in autumn and grow again in spring. Trim back to tame it if required in spring. After this the first year of growth, this type of clematis should be pruned hard back unless it has three or four strong stems growing from the bottom of the plant. To encourage strong growth prune the stems to a pair of strong leaf buds above 30cm.
