The large flowers have long, soft yellow that loosely whorl into a flat circle. These are carried on stiff but slightly arching stems. Long, soft green leaves with some notches long the edges form a neat base. Not as robust as other Centaurea montana types.

Hardy to -10 degrees and more, the leaves remain throughout the year with new ones replacing older leaves in spring. Cut back in spring to tidy up the plant. Needs a well-drained soil that does not dry out, but is not too wet.
