At the base is a dense clump of large, leathery, oval, mid-green leaves that become tainted with rich red in autumn. An excellent evergreen plant for ground covering as well as a corner spot in a border.

Hardy to -10 degrees and more, the leaves remain throughout the year with new ones replacing older leaves in spring. Remove old, brown leaves when they get to look too messy. Very easy to grow. Divide when the stems get too woody.
