Very fine, dark green leaves creates a soft gently arching, upright clump that produces slender stems topped with long, airy sprays of tiny brownish flowers. In autumn the leaves turn orange-brown, a colour that remains throughout winter. The leaves are semi-evergreen and remain more orange than Anemanthele lessoniana.

Hardy to -10 degrees and more, tidy up the old leaves before the new shoots begin to grow in spring. Pull out the flower stems in autumn as the flowers set seed. These come out like strands of hair. Liable to seed around, but easy to remove.
