Wisteria brachybotrys 'Okayama'
A wonderful climber in anyones books. The beauifully scented, soft purple, pea-shaped blossoms open into draping racemes and cover the twisting stems that also bear soft-to-the-touch, mid-green leaves that form neat ladders. Also called Wisteria brachybotrys 'Iko yama fuji'

Hardy to -10 degrees and more, this is better if sheltered from the wind. A non-clinging climber time the stems at 45 degree angles so the flowers drape elegantly. To get the best from the plant, prune it twice a year; after the flowers have finished cut the shoots back to 5 or perhaps 6 buds. In winter cut back the branches back to 2 or 3 buds.
