This very beautiful variety has large, semi-double, crimson flowers. The petals are brushed with purple at the base and surround a centre of pale yellow stamens. The leaves are brushed with red. May flowering. The English translation is 'King of Flowers'.
Like all tree peonies, this shrub has woody stems that remain above ground throughout the year. Tree peonies need to planted with the grafting union placed at least 10 cm (4 inches) below the soil surface. Prune back any dead growth in spring as soon as the buds turn red.
