Eryngium alpinum 'Donard'
(Sea holly)
The flowers of this beautiful plant are very similar to Eryngium alpinum. A broad ruff of finely divided blue spikes sits around a tall dome of blue. As the flower ages the ruff, which is soft at first, turns stiff and browns off. Lovely for autumn/winter shape.
