I absolutely love this plant, but many may find it a bit odd. Strong, upright stems are topped with fluffy, ball like flowers (larger than a golf ball, smaller than a tennis ball). These sit on a goblet of papery soft brown bracts. At the base and partway up the stems long, serrated silvery leaves provide added interest. A must for anyone who likes the unusual. Care advice

Can be fussy and slow to establish. I have found it can be difficult to establish in some soil, but it has grown wonderfully in a poor, sandy very well drained soil and in our peat-free compost. Worth a go anywhere though.
