A new variation on an old theme the flowers with red. Beautifully shaped red flower with white pearl drops dangle from long, arching purple stems. At the base and along the stems is deeply divided deep green foliage that are handsomely tinged with maroon. Now called Lamprocapnos spectabilis 'Valentine'.
Can be tricky to establish, but if it likes the spot they are easy to grow. Requires a deep, rich soil that does not dry out during the summer. Like all Laprocapnos this plant will die back after the flowers have finished.
