IRISES

We grow two different types of irises, Bearded Irises & Beardless Irises. In our fields there are over 500 different Bearded irises, of which over 250 are for sale through this website. If your garden has a well-drained soil, and is sunny, you can grow the Bearded Irises. If it has a damp or clay soil, the beardless irises would be better for your garden.
Bearded Irises come in a wide range of heights that produce flowers from April to June. These are divided into six groups that are known by the following terms (starting with the tallest, and latest first):

Tall Bearded, Border Bearded , Intermediate Bearded, Miniature Tall Bearded, Standard Dwarf Bearded, Miniature Dwarf Bearded

BEARDED IRISES

Bearded irises are the most glamorous of irises and require a well-drained soil in a sunny position. They are so called because of the hairs, which look like a beard, that sit at the top of the lower petals (known as falls).
